In einem Interview mit der US-amerikanischen “Park Rapids Enterprise” berichtet die Zweigstellenleiterin Becky Walpole von einer steigenden Bibliotheksnutzung, die offensichtlich von der ökonomischen Krise ausgelöst ist: “With unemployment on the rise, many head to the library to file claims and conduct job searches, said branch manager Becky Walpole. Some who are feeling the pinch have elected to abandon cell phones and the Internet. They head to the library to check e-mails. Others have given up satellite or cable television reception and are checking out DVDs.”
Die Gemeinde Park Rapids liegt im Hubbard County im Bundesstaat Minnesota und hat knapp 3.300 Einwohner.
